An appraisal to you
Chongtham Ongbi Subadani Devi *
The dawn just broke
Calloping a horse ride
With a mind of suspense
Overtaking the sweeping wind
Set for the outskirts
What message you've brought
Who the cavalier you're?
The message so urgent
A declaration of war.
The message has spread to
The notice of Pukhramba Phingang
Nothing could prevent him,
The vanguard of life
Spear the body guard
Held by the closed fist
Set for a marathon run
Towards the Kangla citadel.
The companion guard
Of a wretched hut
A spear not an ordinary one
What's the fateful hour
You take your birth.
A friend in disguise
A knave in heart
An ugly customer
Claimant of life
Came the fateful hour
Liberate from Phukhramba Phingang
Suck the diabolic blood in
The body of the white.
Sacrificing his soul
Pukhramba Kahao ascended
The gallows with cheers
For motherland Manipur.
I call you in open heart
A crusader of glory and valour
The new generations
Follow your footsteps
Sustain inspirations of life
Remembering thy heroic deed.
Something to apprise you
A life of trial and error
Blood shed and sword power
Break up a tradition now
All the dangers drawn
Swallowed by confusion
Weary the strength might
Diverted from mainstream
Leading a life of confusion
Hoping against hope.
