A Wall and A War
Jugeshwar Waikhwa *
When the cities are unprosperous
And willages are barren!
We do need a man
Strong, honest and simple
Not an ornate, but one
Made of iron and steel.
When exploitation speaks in the society
Peace is silent
Because, in the dream of the poor
There's every hope for happiness.
Tell me not boldly
A peasant's every hope is
"A hut for shelter, and
To drive out hunger from his stomach."
Oh! Society, Friendship and Love
It's a tussle between "have and have-nots",
A war! from the deep corner of the hearts
To break the wall between the two.
(Translated the poet himself)
