The All India Tribal Students’ Association, Delhi (AITSA) express serious concern on the practice of stealing or delaying the release of the post matric scholarship of SC/ST students by officials of the Department of SC/ST welfare, Government of Manipur.
Post Matric Scholarships of several students hailing from remote hill areas of the state who are pursuing studies outside the state are reported misplaced or taken away by unknown persons when they or their relatives enquire in the office of the department located in Imphal.
Post Matric Scholarship, being the hope and source of encouragement for SC/ST students, stealing or demanding bribes for releasing the same amounts to sheer frustration and a sense utter despondency. Such cheap conducts of the concerned officials deserve no leniency.
The Association urges the Hon’ble Minister for SC/ST welfare of the state government of Manipur to immediately look into this shameful practice. In the event of any further complaint, if received; the Association will register criminal case against the dealing officials hereafter. The Grievance Cell of the Association may be contacted in the above email with complete information.
