The 1st Barak Valley Chavang Kut 2012 was held at Manikbond Village of Karimganj District on 1st November 2012. All Kuki people of Barak Valley (Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj District) and from various places like Manipur, Mizoram, NC Hills and Nagaland also attained the festival. The festival; celebration of post-harvesting festival of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo people was celebrated throughout the world. Kut, as a whole, is not only for celebrating the occasion but in the long-run will bring amicable unifying bond in the days to come whoever it may be and where ever he/she may be, as Kut signify the identity and traditional bond as one family.
The day session of the festival was graced by Pu Joydath Chorei, President, Kuki Innpi Barak Valley, Pu Monilal Gowala, MLA, Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Assam and Pu Thanglun Changsan, Advisor, Kuki Inpi Assam as Kut Pa, Chief Guest and Functional President in the occasion.
On the eve of festival all Kuki communities from every walk of life attended the programmed with pomp and gaiety and various cultural troupes of the Kukis performed cultural dances in the session. Cultural Troupes of Nomjang-NC Hills, Chorei, Halam, Reang, Darlong and Hranglong present the beautiful items of their respective traditional dance.

The Chief Guest of the session unveiled the commemoration stone laid by the Kuki Inpi Barak Valley to mark the 1st Barak Valley Chavang Kut. Pu Joydath Chorei, KUT-PA release the Kut Souvenir published by the committee.
In the occasion Pu Ngirvansiek Chorei the First Graduated (1964), Christian and Preacher among the Chorei of Langoi Valley was also felicitated.
For the development of the region and the Kuki people the Kuki Inpi Barak Valley submitted 11 point memorandum to the Chief Guest. The 11 point memorandum includes the demand of Autonomous Development Council for Barak Valley Kukis, construction of proper communication system to all villages with proper facility of higher secondary schools and health centre’s, land allocation and construction of Cultural Heritage Complex at Karimganj.

The night session was filled with most excitement and merry making as the Barak Valley Mister and Miss Kut Contest – 2012 was held which was graced by Shri KK Gupta, Additional Superintendent of Police, Karimganj.
Miss Evelyn from Chinjol, Assam won the title of Miss Kut 2012, Miss Navi Haolai, Haflong as First Runner-up and Susmita Chorei, Manikbond won Second Runner-up. The title of Mister Kut 2012 goes to Mr. James Chorei, Philip Chorei and Vanmunsiek Chorei all from Manikbond Village won Mister Kut First Runner-up and Second Runner-up respectively.
Chavang Kut Band from NC Hills, Joahua Hranglong from Naogoan, Tripura and various artistes from Nomjang, Tripura, Manikbond enthrall the audience.
