18 SIKH CELEBRATES RAKSHA BANDHAN
On 02 Aug 2012, troops of 18 SIKH under the aegis of 9 Sector Assam Rifles, IGAR (S) on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, organised an event at Maibam to celebrate the festival along with the people from different villages of Bishenpur District. The event was attended by ladies from the Tribal Kalyan Ashram Bishnupur District.
As a token of love and brotherhood the ladies tied Rakhi to the troops of 18 SIKH. Some refreshments were also catered for by the unit. This interaction of the locals with the unit would go a long way in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the locals and the armed forces.
18 SIKH CELEBRATES IFTAR IN LILONG
To increase the affiliation between the local population and the armed forces, troops of 18 SIKH under aegis of 9 Sector Assam Rifles, IGAR(S) attended an Iftar party with the people of Lilong at Madrasa Darul Uloom on 01 Aug 2012. The commanding officer was invited as the chief guest for the function.
More than 250 people were present for the occasion. After a small interaction wherein the people expressed their thanks, 18 SIKH promised to people of Lilong that armed forces will always be ready to be a part of their culture and to help them in every possible way.
Then at the time of Iftar, troops of 18 SIKH along with the commanding officer had food with the people who expressed their gratitude and after which they all participated in the Namaz together.
