Changlang (Arunachal Pradesh), February 24 (NEPS):
'Changlang district is indispensable part of Arunachal Pradesh' rented the air when thousands of slogan shouting Tangsa, Noctes, Singphos and Wanchos representing different ethnic tribes of the district took out a procession at Changlang district on Feb 20 last in protest against NSCN's demand to integrate Naga areas in its proposed 'Greater Nagalim,' according to a delay official source.
The maiden procession as fallout of 'Greater Nagalim' issue started from the market and culminated at the general field with the participants shouting: "we strongly oppose any move to separate Changlang.
We are Arunachalees".
In a memorandum, The Changlang district People's Forum conveyed the opposition of the people to the Deputy Commissioner and urged him to protect the integrity of the district.
The DC, however, assured to take up the matter with higher authorities.
However, a delegate comprising from Tirap and Changlang district had attended two day Consultative Meet of the Naga people convened by the NSCN (IM) at its Council Headquarter, Camp Hebron, some 40 kms from Nagaland commercial hub, Dimapur, from Jan 20-21 last this year.
The two-day meeting was called in the backdrop of Indo-Naga Political talks, wherein the collective leadership of the NSCN (IM) adopted 4-point declaration as the Naga people's mandate to settle the vexed Naga political conflict.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (I), (APCC-I) has urged the UPA Chairperson and Congress Chief, Sonia Gandhi to exclude its Tirap and Changlang districts from the ongoing Indo-Naga Nagalim'.
An APCC delegation led by its working President, Takam Sanjoy, who called on Gandhi during her maiden visit to the state capital, while submitting memorandum conveyed that both the districts should not be a part of the on going peace process between India and The NSCN(IM).
