The care-taker of Manipur Rajbari at Shillong is sleeping on the bed once used by Manipuri kings during their visit to the town.
This was discovered by a team of Royal Riders Manipur who went to Shillong recently to participate in the Autumn festival.
The royal bed was found being used by the care-taker when the Royal Riders team and representatives of the Meghalaya Manipuri Welfare Society went to the Rajbari.
Asking the care-taker not to use the royal bed, the team bought him a bed at Rs 1600, conveyed programme officer of Royal Riders Manipur Laishram Momocha while talking to reporters at Manipur Press Club today.
Taking serious note of the worn out condition of the Rajbari, Momocha also sought attention of the State Government to renovate it.
Saying that a cultural institution of Bishnupriyas has already been established at Shillong, he call for a Manipuri cultural institution in the town.
Interacting with the riders on their way, Meiteis settling in Silchar and Barak Valley conveyed their wish to organise a grand get-together function for all the Meiteis of Manipur and outside once every year.
They also expressed their confusion regarding the correctness between Nupi Lan Day or Women's Day, Momocha conveyed.
In response to the invitation for participation in Autumn festival��largest guitar ensemble, 28 riders left Imphal for Shillong on 17 Bullets on October 22.During the festival, 1730 guitarists played a single piece together creating a new world record.
In addition to verification work of the participants of the ensemble, the riders also escorted the vintage car rally organised as a part of the festival, Momocha said.
