Dimapur, June 15:
At least 5 cadres of the NSCN-K have been killed in the Wokha district of Nagaland in the last three days as a result of the factional fightings between the two NSCN groups even as both the factions are all set to move to their respective designated camps by June end.
Tension is mounting high in the Wokha area as there has been strong possibility of further clashes in the days to come.
Police and security forces rushed to the spot on Thursday morning but did find the presence of cadres of either faction in the area.
However, the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha Mika Lumi said there was no possibility of further factional clash as the underground cadres were not seen moving around in the vicinity of the area of the clash.
Sources also said the NSCN-IM cadres were searching for the rival cadres after the Mekokla village incident in Wokha district in which four NSCN-K cadres were killed by the NSCN-IM cadres Wednesday morning.
On June 12, four cadres of the NSCN-K were killed at Mekokla village in Wokha district.
It is worth noting that the three Naga based militant groups have been engaging in clashes killing several cadres belonging to the NSCN-IM, NSCN-K and the FGN/NNC in the last one month in various pockets of Nagaland.
Among the worst hit areas have been Peren, Kohima, Mon and Tuensang and even in Dimapur districts.
The mounting tension following the clashes had prompted the Cease Fire Monitoring Group of the Government of India to convened a separate meeting each for NSCN-IM and NSCN-K reminding of the ceasefire ground rules.
Recently, both the NSCN factions have agreed to move all their respective armed cadres to their designated camps before June 30.Reports said that the new development was agreed upon following a meeting by both the NSCN factions with the Union Home Ministry officials.
