Imphal, November 15 2008:
THE MOST awaiting tournament of Manipur in the field of football, The 52nd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2008 will kick off from tomorrow at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The tournament is being participated by 19 different teams from different parts of Manipur.
The qualifying round will last till November 23 .
The participating teams are YSWA Bishnupur, DSA Chandel Eleven, DSA Tamenglong Eleven, ABBA Imphal East and KHUC Ukhrul in group A, KLASA Bishnupur, Eleven Star Sporting Union Imphal East, Sagolband United Imphal West, Star United Ukhrul and SYC Sadar Hills in group B.Other teams are FSC Kakching, LSC Churachandpur, Citizen Club Imphal East, DM RAO Imphal West and AJSA Eleven Jiribam in group C while YDO Imphal West, SWYC Moreh, AIFA Kakching and SYC Sadar Hills are participating in group D.The qualifying round will be held on knock-out basis.
Four teams will be selected from the qualifying round for the final round.
The final round of the meet will be held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and Mapal Kangjeibung from November 23 with 27 teams.
The teams who will participate in the final round are defending champion, North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA) and other eleven teams of Manipur State League (MSL), two teams each of Super League of Imphal East and West District Football Association, one top team each of DFA Thoubal, DSA Kakching, DSA Bishnupur, DSA Churachandpur, four teams from the qualifying round which is to be held from tomorrow and three teams from outside Manipur.
The winner team will be awarded Rs 60,000 alongwith the trophy, and the runners up team will be awarded Rs 25,000 alonwith the trophy.
Semi finalist teams will be awarded cash prize of 5000 each, and quarter finalists teams will be awarded cash prize of 3000 each.
Other participating teams will aslo be awarded cash prize of 1000 each.
A cash prize of Rs 2000 will also be awarded to the best player, best goal keeper, fair play team, while a cash prize of Rs 5000 alongwith a trophy will be awarded to the man of the final match.
Besides, a cash prize of Rs 5000 will also be awarded to the best defender for the first time in the history of CC meet.
According to L Jyotirmoy Roy, joint secretary of All Manipur Football Association, AMFA had so far contact four teams from other states of Indi.
But there is still no response from them.
The four teams of other states are Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) of Assam, Eastern Railway, Assam Rifles Tinsukia of Kolkata and Oil India of Duliajan.
P Raghumani, Vice President, AMFA will flaged off the qualifying round as chief guest tomorrow.
The first qualifying round match will be played between SA Chandel Eleven and DSA Tamenglong Eleven.
