Imphal, April 29: VSAI, Thangmeiband secured third position in the 2nd Koijam Yaima Memorial Veteran Football Tournament with a 5-2 penalty shoot-out victory over CBVT, Baruni Chingoi at Akampat ground today.

After normal period ended on a 1-1 draw, penalty shoot-out was applied to break the deadlock during which four VSAI players converted their shots into goals compared to only one success by the rival team.

The match began with the Thangmeiband veterans taking the lead through M Devananda in the 37th minute as Rajendro equalised for CBVT.

The final of the tournament on May 2 will feature SUVFA, Singjamei and KVFA, Khurai.

In all 12 veteran teams had competed in the tournament.
