After a hard toil to break the 1-1 deadlock proved elusive in normal period, FVWA finally prevailed by nine goals to six against Chingtam in penalty shootout in the first semi final of the 8th Challenge Cup veteran football tournament at Khuman lampak Main Stadium today.
FVWA will take on tomorrow's second semi final winner between CBVT and FLAM in the final.
In an absorbing tie for the summit round, B Sanahal put FVWA ahead with a 12th minute goal which was neutralised by Ronal sitlhou's header in the 39th.
As neither side managed to break the stalemate tie-break of 11 attempts each were applied to decide the winner in which FVWA emerged triumphant.
Compared to Athui Rongmei, Angampui, Ronal, Mani Gangmei and Ch Rameshwor converting their shot into goal for Chingtam, the FVWA win were ensured by successful conversions of T Rajendro, Devanta, Surjit, M Munal, Habibur Rahman, Dhanachandra, Satrugan and Ibohanbi.
