Imphal, November 14 2008: ALMOST ALL of the sports material worth around five crores which were bought to promote the players of Manipur to a better condition have arrived Imphal.

Eight sets of weight-lifting, scoreboards and other materials from Japan worth 60 lacs arrived last year and was used in the Junior National Champion-ship held at Imphal.

Sabres, masks, apparatus and other materials of fencing from UK and China woth 52.61 were used in regular coaching programmes and competition organised by department of sports.

Special mat and springboard of Wushu worth 41-10 lacs which were imported from Korea have also been used in the 10-days special coaching programme at Imphal conducted by Wushu expert from Beijing Sports University.

Bows, arrows, and other materials of Archery worth 30.68 lacs, imported from UK and China have also arrived Imphal.

Mats of Sepak Takraw worth 15.99 lacs, imported from Japan were also used in the national and NE zone championships held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.

Other materials of canoeing and kayakking, rowing, shooting are about to arrived soon.

Besides some cycles from Italy have already arrived and the remaining will also be arriving soon, said an official of state department of sports.
