3rd Premier League UCFC edge ABA in 7 goal thriller as SU beat AMOFA 2-1

Imphal, October 08 2025: United Chandel FC (UCFC), Chandel and Sagolband United (SU), Sagolband opened their 3rd Premier League 2025-26 campaign on winning notes at SAI ground, Takyel today.

In the 6th match, UCFC beat Athletic Brother's Association (ABA), Kshetrigao by 4-3 goals before SU edged past All Moirang Football Association (AMOFA), Moirang by 2-1 goals later in the 7th match this afternoon.

Thaokung Malchong Chothe starred in UCFC's win as he scored twice including the winner as Ahong Khiang Chothe and Chaithu Lalthangchung Aimol added a goal apiece.

UCFC opened the scoring after 10 minutes through Ahong Khiang Chothe before Thaokung Malchong Chothe doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute.

Stunned by back to back goals, ABA fought back and reduced the deficit through Saikhom Abinash in the 24th minute before his teammate Meraimayum Raju made the most of a penalty to make it 2-2 after 39 minutes.

After the restart, UCFC regained the lead through Chaithu Lalthangchung in the 57th minute but ABA returned to action to cancel the lead through Ningthoujam Dhanaraj in the 68th minute.

The two sides fought hard to find the difference yet again and Thaokung Malchong Chothe succeeded in breaking the deadlock after 79 minutes to put UCFC ahead once again.

UCFC then saw off the game with the 1-goal advantage despite ABA's relentless effort to come to level terms in the remainder of the game.

Later in the day, SU rode on Mutum Arvind's goal to take an early 1-0 lead but AMOFA fought back to draw level in the 13th minute through Ningthoujam Dhanabir.

After settling the first half in a 1-1 draw, the two sides made numerous exchanges in search of the lead until Ningthoujam Naresh scored in the 72nd minute to earn SU the lead.

SU while keeping its citadel intact went out to add more to their tally but AMOFA managed to hold off their charges.

AMOFA also did their best to close the gap but were unsuccessful.

Eventually the game ended 2-1 in favour of the Sagolband side.
