CFC crush LFC 3-0 to seal Chandel Cup title

Chandel, August 17 2014: Chumbang Football Club (CFC) sealed the first title of the 1st Chandel DC Cup, held on August 15 at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, Chandel.

Hosted by Riverlane Youth Club, 36 teams participated in the competition that began from July 30 with the opening playoff declared by Thangjamang Haokip as Chief Guest.

In the final playoff, Chumbang FC crushed Liwachangning FC by a margin of 3 goals to nil.

PR Sungrim Chothe (No 10) and Henry Chothe (No 6) scored for Chumbang FC to clinch the Championship title for the first time.

From the outset to the end the 19th minute of the play, both teams fought on equal pace.

They equally missed out threatening opportunity and chances.

It was during the 20th minute when Chumbang FC broke the dead-lock through Pr Sungrim Chothe whose shot was converted into goal.

Just after 14 minutes from their first goal, Chumbang again mounted pressure to double the lead in the 34th minutes with Pr Shungrim adding his personal tally to 2 goals for his side and left the 1st half ended with Chumbang leading by 2 goals.

The second half of the match saw Chumbang more confidence while Liwachangning failed to get a foothold into the match.

Meanwhile, Henry Chothe alias Chaoba (No 6) kicked home another goal in the 63rd min from a close range making the tally to 3-0 .

The final whistle was blown to mark the end of play wherein Chumbang FC emerged the first Champion of the Chandel DC Cup 2014.The final playoff was preceded by a closing function during which Chandel Deputy Commissioner, IAS Th Chittaranjan Singh and Former Chandel DSA President and now Addl CEO of ADC/CDL TS Kothar Monsang attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.

Chumbang FC walked home with championship prize of Rs 40000 with certificates and Liwachangning FC with a runner up prize of Rs 20000 along with certificates.

Semifinalists Kapaam Dev Club and Japhou Y/C-A were given a cash of Rs 5000 each.

Top Scorer was bagged by Pr Sungrim Chothe of Chumbang FC and Best Player by Pr Rulthou Chothe of Chumbang FC.

Golden Glove award went to S Zingthang of Liwachangning FC while Fair play team went Liwachangning FC.
