MK Ghanendrajit Super Division Football League : UPAA, XI-Star SU end their campaign on winning notes as KIYC earn league title

Imphal, August 14 2019: UPAA, Kyamgei and XI-Star SU, Akampat posted wins in their last matches at ABA ground, Kshetrigao in the Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Super Division Football League Tournament organised by Imphal East District Football Association as KIYC, Kshetri Awang Leikai by virtue of 5 wins which gave them 15 points in 6 matches emerged the winners.

KIYC will now represent the Imphal East district in this year's Winners Cup UPAA, Kyamgei could have became a close contender for KIYC if they had not go down to PYA in their previous match.

Though they missed their chance, they managed a fighting 4-2 win against RAU, Lairikyengbam Leikai today as A Ango shone with two goals including the opening goal in the 7th minute.

The score was locked at 1-1 at the break as E Joykishan handed RAU the equaliser in the 27th minute before W Michael completed the turnaround in the 45th minute.

UPAA however made a strong comeback with Sona pulling level in the 55th minute before A Ango struck his second two minutes latter to help his team retain the lead.

UPAA continued to mount the pressure on RAU and it was Anao who gave the former team the two goal cushion with a crisp shot in the 61st minute and the scoreline remained unchanged till the final whistle enabling them secure the second place.

Meanwhile in the last match of the tournament, Risk scored twice (12', 35') while Joshidas (22') and Ramesh (38') added a goal each to help XI Star SU manage a commanding 4-0 win against PYA, Kairang to finish 6th in the table.
