Kolkata, January 06 2010:
Many a sportsman might have been banking on WADA's promise to relook at its controversial whereabouts clause in the new year, but if a high-ranking official of the doping regulatory body is to be believed, these changes are not going to happen in a hurry.
WADA vice-president Dr Arne Ljungqvist informed that the whereabouts clause did not come up for review during the agencys December meeting.
A good number of sportspersons, cutting across various diciplines, have spoken out against the intrusive nature of the clause, under which they are required to inform the WADA about their location for at least one hour every day for the next six months.
Players, including tennis ace Rafael Nadal have termed the clause an invasion of privacy.
However, most of them cricketers being the prominent exceptions have signed this clause, albeit with
their reservations.
