Imphal, November 18: Chandel overwhelmed Kakching by five goals to two in the final of the MCA Football Tournament on November 17 at Maha union High School ground, Chandel.

For the winners Shongingthar Monsang scored four goals with one from K Beningthar while Sanjit Singh and Naoba Singh reduced the loss margin for Kakching.

Brig RA Lewis handed over cash prizes of Rs 6000 and 4000 to the champion and runners-up teams respectively while SH Shongningthar Monsang of Japhou village was adjudged best player of the tournament for his eight goal feat.

The champion team Chandel will represent the AR sector in the IG AR (South) level competition starting next month.

Teams from Sajik Tampak, Chakpikarong, Tengnoupal and Moreh besides the two finalist competed in the tournament conducted under the sponsorship of Hqs 26 Sector Assam Rifles since November 12.
