ASC lead in Tent pegging meet

Imphal, December 28: Army Supply Corps (North) picked up one gold, silver and bronze medals each as the National Tent Pegging Championship being held at Imphal Polo-ground entered the second day today.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) finished day on one gold and two bronze medals as the hosts' competitors pulled out from the championship on technical ground due to fitness problems of the horses.

Naik Ramban launched ASC's medal campaign with the tent pegging individual lance gold on 33 points followed by team-mate Nk Phool Singh with 31 points (14.92 secs) for the silver medal and the bronze going to Hc Suresh Singh (31/15.75 secs) of ITBP.

ITBP's gold medal was won by HC Shashi Dharan in the individual tent peggingrings & peg (2 runs) event with a tally of 36 points as the BSF opened its medal account when HC Jaswinder Singh culled 32 points to secure the silver medal.

The third position was shared by Sep T Sarkar of ASC-N and ITBP's HC Rajaram both tied on 30 points each.
