Imphal, September 25: The Manipur Grassroots School League 2007 kicked off simultaneously in three districts and Kakching sub-division yesterday with the main opening programme held at Mapal Kangjeibung where Education Minister L Jayantakumar Singh formally inaugurated the competition.

At Mapal kangjeibung where under-11 girls competition for Imphal West district was held, Pari Imom Sindamsang pipped Public Girls H/S by a solitary goal while in the boys section in the same age group Nirmala Rani H/S, Wangoi routed Don Bosco, langjing 13-1.In the under-12 boys competition at Don Bosco playground Churachandpur, the host school was held to a 4-4 draw by Churachandpur Govt high School while at Kakching Practising junior H/S edged past PR English School 6-5.for Bishnupur district (U-12 boys) competition played at the district's mini stadium, Thinungei Phubala H/S outclassed Mukta H/S 5-1, KT Khongjom H/S defeated Bishnupur Public School 3-1, Gokul H/S blanked Thanga H/S 3-0 and Leimaram H/S split points with Keinou H/S after a 2-2 draw.
