Imphal, May 23: Football Lovers Association, Manipur (Flam), Yaiskul edged out Veteran Sports Association Imphal (VSAI), Thangmeiband 2-1 to wrest the championship title of the 2nd Veteran Soccer Cup 2007 today.

The summit clash at PAMYAL football ground, Patsoi Pt-II this afternoon saw the Thangmeiband veterans take the lead in the 23rd minute when N Bijoy found the opponent net.

FLAM came back strongly after the change of ends to entirely change the scenario with two goals in the span of two minutes first Md Rahaman restoring parity in the 48th minute before E Ratan scored the match-winner.

The champions were awarded Rs 15,000 and the runners-up Rs 8000 while Y Khogen of VSAI was adjudged best goalkeeper.

L Nandakumar of FLAM was named best player of the tournament competed by ten veteran teams as the 'fair play trophy' went to CBVT, Chingoi Baruni.

FLAM's Md Rahaman also claimed the most valuable player award.

The competition organised by RSVS had commenced from April 22.
