Bad light disrupts Manipur University and Kerala University match when the score was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation time in today's match of All India Inter-University Hockey (women) Tournament 2006-07 being held at MU campus.
The fate of the match will be decided tomorrow through golden goal.
In other match of the day Ranchi University overcame spirited Punjabi University 2-1, Mangalore University went down cheaply to Punjab University 1-6 while Kurushetra University defeated Devi Ahilya University 3-2.
Host Manipur University drew first blood in the 40th minute through a penalty corner magnificiently taken by H Indubala.
Kerala University level the score at 61st minute through Saumya.
Due to bad light the match was stop by the match referee at the end of stipulated time and post-poned till tomorrow.
The golden goal rule will be applied in the match.
Though Punjabi University broke the stalemate as early as 10th minute, they could not hold into the lead with Ranchi finding the equaliser in the 36th minute through Prafulla Indevar.
Joyti Sareng provided the winning goal in the 71st minute through a penalty corner.
Punjab dominance in hockey came to the fore when Punjab University trounced Mangalore outfit 6-1.Parkash was the highest scorer with four goals in 4th, 10th, 60th and 65th minute while Ray Rani added a brace in the 3rd and 29th minute.
The consolation goal for Mangalore team was sounded by Shruthy in the 12th minute.
Renu, Kanwaljit Kaur and Ranji Basal sounded one goal each in Kurushetra University drubbing of Devi Ahilya University 3-2.Preeti Singh and Reena Maurya scored one goal each.
