Newly laid turf and pitch unveiled as MNCA observes golden jubilee celebration

The Manipur Cricket Association (MNCA) celebrated its 50th foundation day, marked by two significant events.
In the afternoon, former Chief Minister and former MNCA President, Nongthombam Biren Singh, unveiled the newly laid turf and pitch at the Luwangpokpa Sports Complex.
Attending the event, BCCI Secretary, Devajit Saikia, expressed delight over the ongoing infrastructural development and hoped that state players would benefit from an all-weather indoor training facility by next season.

Former MNCA president and MLA of Sagolband AC, RK Imo; Khairul Jamal Majumdar, member of BCCI Apex Council and others also attended the programme.
The evening celebration at the City Convention Centre featured cultural events, felicitations, and awards.
Presidents and key functionaries of cricket associations from Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, and Nagaland were honored in the presence of dignitaries.
As a part of the evening session, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia unveiled a souvenir, while MNCA Secretary Leishangthem Ronel presented a visual journey of cricket in Manipur since 1907.Achievers and meritorious players were felicitated, and floral tributes were paid to the founding members and cricketing pioneers at the event.
During the event, the MNCA submitted a memorandum to the BCCI Secretary, who also urged the association to properly utilize the maintenance fund sanctioned by the BCCI.
He also assured support for developing more cricket grounds in Manipur to produce international-class players.
On the prospects of hosting domestic tournaments in the State, he also mentioned that hosting domestic tournament matches would depend on expert evaluation.
