SAI fencers wrest Governor's Cup

Imphal, August 14 2010: SAI RC, Takyel emerged as the overall team champion of the 6th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship which concluded at Khuman Lampak indoor Stadium today.

While SAI RC swept the team titles in senior men, women, junior boys, cadet girls and subjunior girls categories, and shared the honour with Miisikhol in junior girls team event, Miisikhol cadets and SWC junior boys topped their class.

SAI RC fencers collected 12 gold, six silver and 12 bronze medals to claim the overall title compared Miisikhol's haul of 26 medals including five gold and 10 silver medals while OLA occupied the third spot on three gold and a silver medal.

Closing function of the championship organised by Manipur Fencing association was held with Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwar as the chief guest.
