The four-member team of AMFA attended the inaugural function of the AFC Asian Cup 2007 at Bangkok on July 7 at Rajamangalam Stadium on the invitation of His Excellency Mohammed bin Hammam, President of the Asian Football Confederation.
The team had discussions on the constraints faced by AMFA in implementing the Vision Project and sought AFC's financial support.
Brendan John Menton, Acting Director, Vision Asia, also took part in the discussion.
The AFC President who is already aware on the strengths and weakness of Manipur expressed his happiness on the progress of Manipur in the Vision Project of AFC and assured that some financial support to AMFA for implementing the project and for increasing the prize money of Manipur State League.
He informed that the AFC had found a sponsor for the whole Vision Project and Manipur which is successfully implementing the project will get its share.
He further informed that the support as at present will be for two years.
The support will start flowing after AFC enters an MoU with All India Football Federation, its affiliate and the flow will be directly to AMFA.
Incidentally, no other representatives from India was there in the inaugural function.
The President and General Secretary of AIFF could not attend due to prior commitments.
