Imphal, August 07: Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei earned its place to compete among top clubs in State hockey when ESA, Charangpat forfeited its last match against the former in the Division II Hockey League Tournament 2007 scheduled at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

While ESU (9 points) along with UYAC, Ucheckon got promotion to the higher level, absence of the Charangpat side meant not only scratching from the competition as per rules of the tournament but also demotion to a lower division.

In the day's only match, UYAC thrashed YAC, Yaiskul 5-0 to finish its campaign on six points and a rightful place to feature in higher division competition from the next season.

Th Dhamen (12th, 68th), N Bimolchand (43rd) and M Dinapal (55th, 59th) scored in UYAC's victory.

YAC completed the league on three points with win-less THAI, Thangmeiband sank to the bottom of the five team competition.

The closing ceremony of the league tournament was held with president of IED Hockey Association Th Ranjit and chairman of the tournament committee Dr Ch Manglem as the chief guest and president respectively.
