MuayThai Seminar, Workshop held at Imphal

Inaugurating the Seminar, MFI President Oken Jeet Sandham explained as to how International Federation of MuayThai Amateur, IFMA, the only International Amateur MuayThai Governing Body in the world, came into being and its recognition by Olympic Council of Asia, OCA and General Association of International Sports Federation, GAISF.
He elucidated about the Asia's Amateur MuayThai Governing Body, the FAMA, a prime mover of taking Amateur MuayThai into the 13th Asian Games in 1998 at Bangkok.
"I am happy that I could successfully lead the Indian MuayThai Team to represent the county (India) in the 13th Bangkok Asian Games in 1998 when the Game was for the first time introduced as a Demonstration Sports," said Sandham.
"It was history not only for the MFI but also the country because we had not only participated for the first time but also brought two bronze medals".
The President also narrated as to how Indian Federation (MFI) has been working and functioning under the laid down guidelines of the IFMA, WMC and FAMA.
Sandham also told the Officials and Members of MAMC to unite and work as one family under the similar theme of the "One World, One MuayThai," and develop the sense of oneness with other counterparts in the country.
MFI Vice President O Manglemjao also spoke on the occasion.
He also narrated of the MuayThai activities in Manipur.
He said there was no dearth of potential players in Manipur in the field and expressed hope that they would be able to compete with the rest of the world if they were provided proper infrastructure.
MAMC President L Thoiba Singh and other senior leaders reaffirmed to work coherently to promote and strengthen the art of MuayThai in every nook and corner of Manipur.
They also stressed the importance of organizing proper fund and its way out so as to fund in their MuayThai development in the State.
Large number of students, some of them already participated IFMA World Championships in the past, also took part during the training workshop at Imphal.

MFI MuayThai Seminar and Workshop have been successfully organized from May 4 to 5, 2007 at Imphal Hotel and Krishtina Hotel in Imphal.
The Manipur Amateur MuayThai Council, MAMC, a Unit of the MuayThai Federation of India, MFI, has organized the events.
The President of the MFI Oken Jeet Sandham, MFI Vice President O Manglemjao, host of MFI Executive Members and MAMC
