Imphal, October 03: The 10th NORTH East Zone Sport Climbing Competition 2008, organised by Manipur Mountaineering and Tracking Association (MMTA), sponsored by North Eastern Council under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and North East Zone Sport Climbing Committee at Kangla Rock and Sports Climbing Wall has come to an end today.

Manipur emerged as overall champion of the competition.

H Raju of Manipur was honoured with best male climber and Wungsuk Myusthong of Meghalaya with best best female climber.

H Raju won the gold medal in the junior boys the top in 15.17 seconds.

He was followed by T Bobo of Arunachal Pradesh and H Manglemba of Manipur as second and third position.

H Raju also won a gold in the junior boys bouldering event.

II Manglemba of Manipur and T Bobo of Arunachal Pradesh followed him as second and third position respectively.

Wungsuk Myuthong won a gold medal in women's open lead climbing.

She was followed by Dimchuilu Inkah of Manipur and Roiwanky Suchiang of Meghalaya who won silver and bronze in the same event respectively.

Wungsuk also won gold in the women's open bouldering and was followed by Raiwanky of Meghalaya and N Bidyapati of Manipur by earning themselves silver and a bronze respectively.

S Surchandra of Manipur won gold in the men's open lead climbing.

N Symsonand, N Chitrasen of Manipur also won silver and a bronze in the same event.

In the junior boys lead climbing I Manglemba of Manipur won gold H Raju of Manipur and T Bobo of Arunachal Pradesh won silver and bronze in the same event.

Verisha Maring of Meghalaya won gold in the junior girl's lead climbing.

Sarangthcm Iandhoni of Manipur and Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih of Meghalaya won silver and bronze respectively in the same event.

In the sub-junior boy's lead climbing Larnabam Muhindro of Manipur won gold, Ashem Subash and Kangujam Surjit of Manipur won silver and bronze in the same event.

Nabum Yapu of Arunachla Pradesh won gold in the sub-junior girl's lead climbing.

Pingili Elapra of Arunachal Pradesh and Ph Dayarani of Manipur won silver and bronze in the same event.

In the men's open bouldering event, Salam Surchandra of Manipur won gold while Th David and S Symson of Manipur won silver and bronze respectively.

Valarie Suchiang of Meghalaya won gold in the junior girl's bouldering event.

Budhi Ampa of Arunachal Pradesh and S Landhoni of Manipur won silver and bronze in the same.

S Surchandra of Manipur won silver and bronze in the same.

In the women's open speed climbing event, Roiwanki Suchiang of Meghalaya bagged gold while Wungsuk Myrthong of Meghalaya and S Ashangbi of Manipur won silver and bronze in the same event.

The competition was concluded with Manipur as overall champion by winning eight golds, 10 silvers and 11 bronzes which sum up to 29 medals.

Meghalaya was in the second position with six golds, two silvers and 3 bronzes totaling to 11 medals.

Arunachal was in the third position with two golds, four silvers and two bronzes which sum up to eight medals.

The competition was comprised of 16 events.
