Imphal, April 30:
FLAM clinched the title of the 8th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament with a 9-6 victory over FWVA via the penalty shoot-out at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today.
Tie-break had to be applied after normal period ended with both sides scoring one apiece, FLAM opening the account through Bobo's ninth minute goal and the opponent restoring parity off a rebound by Sanahal in the 36th minute.
Out of 11 attempts each in the penalty shoot-out FLAM missed only one while four FVWA players faltered.
The final match was held with Social Welfare Minister DK Korungthang and MLA Bijoy Koijam as the chief guest and president respectively.
The champion side walked home richer by Rs 15,000 as FVWA had to be content with Rs 8000.FLAM's N Bobo won the top scorer, best forward and first goal scorer of the final match prizes.
Other title winners are as follows: Tournament's first scorer M Nobin (Ching-tam); Oldest player T ibohanbi (TYWO); Best goalkeeper L Nandakumar (Flam); Best defender T Rajendro (FVWA); Best player Basanta Kabui (Flam); Fair play DRIVFA.
