Imphal, March 03:
Host Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) had to pay a heavy price for missing a penalty kick as Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei advanced to the final of the 3rd Sarajeevan Tiddim Trophy invitation football tournament with a 3-2 victory in the second semi final at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today.
SSU will play NEROCA in the final on March 5 at 1.30 pm.
Th Sanker, whose contributions had been decisive in TRAU reaching the last four stage of the competition, turned out to be culprit as he failed to beat SSU 'keeper Narakanta from the penalty spot in the 24th minute.
On the otherhand, calm and composed R banny chiru controlled a Ratan floater from near the centre to draw first blood for the Singjamei side in the 40th minute of the absorbing contest.
Chiru made the score 2-0 seven minutes into the second half off a Tiken pass while a swift one-two between Shanta and Charan Rai ended with the latter providing the finishing touch for a commanding 3-0 in the 52nd minute.
Double strike from O Sanatomba in quick succession narrowed the score deficit for TRAU but the SSU lead proved unassailable in the end.
