Imphal, August 12: A Gojen of Manipur College emerged the men's champion with five points and 15 progressive score while Th Subhalakshmi of DM College of Arts pipped her nearest rival with a better progressive score (14) to claim the women's crown of the Manipur University Inter-College Chess Tournament which concluded at the central hall of DMC Science today.

Subalakshmi and collegemate I Maryshanta culled four points each in the eight player competition with the latter missing the title by a single PS (13). In the men's division L Krishna of the host college finished second with a haul of four points and 12 PS.

The closing function was graced by the DMC Science Principal Th Beda-mani Devi as the chief guest.
