Imphal, December 17: Riding on R Banny Chiru's four goal blitzkrieg former champions Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei stormed into the last eight round of the ongoing 49th CC Meet football tournament.

The Singjamei side is the second team to advance to the quarter finals of the prestigious tournament after MPSC.

SSU, who had defeated ESU, Wangkhei in its campaign opener topped group B with a sound thrashing of KYC, Churachandpur 5-0 today.

While the first half ended with neither side able to breach each other's last line of defence, the two time champion SSU poured its fury upon the hapless CCpur side after the interval.

Banny Chiru having broke the stalemate in the 57th minute went on to complete second hattrick of the competition with goals in the 72nd and 76th minute.

His fourth came in the 88th minute.

L Tiken and Charan Rai were involved in all the goals scored by banny Chiru.

Reversing the role, Chiru did the spadework for Charan Rai to score the team's fourth goal in the 80th minute.
