Imphal, December 15 2010: The United NGOs Mission � Manipur (UNM-M) in a press release urged the government and DGP of Manipur to book the culprit of the Yaiphakol paddy field incident and to take due legal measures under criminal procedures against the culprit/s.UNM-M, an apex network body of various NGOs of Manipur representing many ethnic communities, expressed shock at the heinous crimes committed on women in Manipur when women in the state were joining their counterparts all over the world in observing the international fortnight protesting violence against women.

It said that such heinous crime against women in the state is not a rarity.

Many instances of rape, murder and other crimes against women had taken place in recent past.

The government's promises to safeguard the people remained empty promises in the light of such acts.

UNM-M urged the government and DGP to take immediate action and to take up measures to avoid such occurrences in future.
