Imphal, October 21: The short play competition for creative directors, 2005 commenced from today at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) hall.

The annual competition is being organised along with Manipur Theatre Day celebration under the aegis of Theatre Centre, Manipur.

Art and Culture Minister Ph Parijat inaugurated the theatrical extravaganza as chief guest.

Art and Culture Director Dr Kh Sorojini Devi and MDU president G Joykumar Sharma were guests of honour of the function presided over by Theatre Centre, Manipur president Wareppa Naba .

Noted theatre personalities like director of Rupmahal Theatre Oinam Birmangol Singh and director of Panthoibi Natya Mandir Yumnam Rajendra were felicitated with this year�s Lalit Ningshing Khodol and Theatre Centre award respectively.

The Khudhol and the awards consist of one medal, one certificate, shawl and Rs 1000 in cash each.

The short play competition for the creative directors would commence from tomorrow till Oct 30.In all 29 theatre groups would be taking part in the competition vying for 25 prizes.
