A two month long training of State youths on driving and vehicle maintenance was conducted by 657 EME Battalion under the aegis of 57 Mountain Division since March 20.
The 14 local youths from various districts and communities were imparted training to carry out minor repair of light and heavy motor vehicles, apart from driving in hills and plains, informed PIB (DW) in a statement issued today.
trained and provided all the administrative support as they lived and dined with the troops, the trainees were issued 'experience certificate, permanent driving licence and traffic rules booklet' to enhance their job prospects during the closing ceremony graced by General Officer Commanding of 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan.
Stating that the training programme is a small step in empowering the youth to stand on their own feet, the Major general also advised the candidates to build up on their skill through more practice before taking up a job in driving.
The PIB statement also quoted the GOC of assuring more such courses to help wider section of the population.
