Imphal, May 21: Reacting to the assertion of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh that construction of the three market sheds of Khwairamband Bazar and the proposed Cultural Complex could not take off as no firm/contractors have responded to the tenders called even after six times, Ex-MLA L Ibomcha Singh has observed sidelining the issue of development on the contention of non-availability of contractors is really unfortunate.

Even without the help of contractors or firms from outside the State, development work can be taken up departmentally very easily by forming a Task force of the Engineers who have not been assigned any important work despite enjoying Government salary all these years.

This step would ensure smooth execution of the work and less expenditure.

However, there would not be no question of percentage deduction if the work is taken up departmentally, he equipped.
