As a consequence of alleged intimidation to residents of Nagaram asking them to vote for MPP candidates an emergency meeting was held today on the matter, informed a release of Nagaram Village Authority.
Some unidentified persons claiming to be activists of a valley-based UG group is informed to have showed up at the Authority�s general secretary on February 11 night to ask the local voters cast their votes for the MPP nominee.
The unidentified persons also demanded that Rs 1.20 lakhs allegedly provided by Heingang AC MLA N Biren be handed over to them in addition to confiscating the voters� identity cards of Nagaram residents.
Apart from clarifying that no amount as had been alleged, was ever received by the village authority or the villagers, the meeting resolved to demand clarification on the matter by the group concerned failing which any untoward incident in the village should be owned by the claimed UG group.
Taking grim note of such intimidation and wrongly implicating the villagers, the meeting called upon all right thinking citizens to condemn the disturbing conduct.
