Imphal, Aug 07: HQ IGAR (South) organised a media awareness cum interaction programmes for all ranks from July 28 to August 4 at different parts of the State.

PRO HQ IGAR (S) conducted the programmes along with teams of senior journalists by visiting Keithelmanbi, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Yangangpokpi and Pallel on July 28, 29, August 2, 3 and 4 respectively.

All Manipur Working Journalists' Union, Editors' Forur, DD K Imphal, NE TV and ISTV made their journalists available for the programmes.

The PRO delivered a lecture on media awareness and discussion on necessity of using media as a friendly force in fighting against insurgency problem.

The theme of the presentation was 'Military and media comrade in arms.

Need for winning the hearts and minds of the people by the security personnel with the help of media and dos and don'ts for troops while dealing with mediapersons were highlighted during the course of the lecture.

After the lecture cum discussion by the PRO on features and roles of media, journalists narrated their experiences and problems faced during coverage of military activities.
