Imphal, July 02:
Taking serious note of the reportedly deplorable condition of the Shangshak-Phungyar road, the Phungyar Block Development Council, in a meeting held on May 21, resolved to repair the dilapidated portions of the road by themselves, informed the Council in a press release.
Each village under the Phungyar sub-division contributed Rs 1000 for repairing the road.
However, the money collected from the villagers was too little to repair the road.
As such a large portion of the road remain unrepaired posing risk to transporters, passengers and other commuters.
Stating the Shangshak-Phungyar road has not been maintained/repaired properly since 2001 when BRTF handed over the maintenance responsibility of the road to State PWD, the Phungyar Block Development Council while drawing attention of the Chief Minister into the matter, sought assistance from the State Government.
