The inaugural programme of the month-long 'EDP on Food Processing and Preservation' organized by Small industries Service Institute, Takyel in collaboration with Action for Community Transformation, Manipur was held at the SISI Training hall today with SBI, Imphal General manager Arindam Pal as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion the GM referring to the abundant availability of fruit and vegetables in the State due to its favorable climatic condition stressed on improved method of processing and preservation without which all the natural resources would lay waste.
Acknowledging lack of cold storage that has resulted in huge loss of fruits and vegetables, Arindam Pal expressed willingness to provide financial assistance for maximum benefits while urging SISI to initiate in laying the platform for starting medium and large scale industrial unit in Manipur.
Not only has the processing and preservation aspect should be addressed but equal emphasis should be given in standardizing the packaging sector for marketability in the international fora.
Secretary of ACT-M Shubra Devi, SISI Assistant Director (Electronics) GC Singh, Asst Dir (G&C) Bhoj Raj and Asst Dir (Electronics) SK Verma also spoke on the occasion.
