Imphal, January 28 2010: Pensioners of state government today staged a sit-in protest at Keishampat pressing the state government to clear pending benefits which are gettable by them.

The sit-in protest staged under the banner of the Manipur State Pensioners' Union commenced from 7 am and went on till 5 pm.

Around 200 pensioners and family pensioners from various places like Leimakhong, Thoubal, Yairipok took part in the protest.

A statement signed by general secretary of the union with regard to the protest recalled and said despite pensioners had launched various forms of democratic forms of agitations like hunger strike, the ruling SPF government is yet to fulfill their demands.
