Tamenglong, February 26, 2010:
Demanding immediate revocation of State Governments order that effected the revised academic calendar, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) warned that it would not remain silent on the issue but would react accordingly.
A press release issued by its president A Pfokrehrii Khrasi said that mere claims of putting reasons like synchronising the academic calendar of Manipur Board with other States would not balm the hurt sentiments of the hill people if the State Government decides to enforce the new academic calendar plan.
Saying that the imbroglio of the Government and some organisations in valley areas that lasted many months affected thousands of students across the State, SDSA cautioned that changing of academic calendar after every law and order problem would create impediments in future.
Maintaining that hill people cannot be made scapegoat of the poor governance of the State Government, SDSA asserted that it would not succumb to any pressure.
Decrying the unnecessary delay of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur in releasing text books, SDSA also demanded for immediate release of text books.
