Locals round up key 'surrender drama' mediator

Imphal, April 30: In connection with the 'staged' surrender drama enacted by the Assam Rifles on March 13, locals of Luwangshangbam Matai village managed to rounded up another key person responsible for luring innocent youths with job offer to pose as militants.

The arrested person identified as Thoudam Dilip of Luwangshangbam Mamang Leikai has been taken into custody by Heingang police later in the evening.

Dilip has been arrested following the disclosure made by Taorem Hemanta of Luwangshangbam Matai Awang Leikai, who had also posed one of the surrendered militant and is still in the custody of the Assam Rifles at Chandel.

Parents of Hemanta had reportedly gone to meet their son at Chandel today.

During the meeting, Hemanta revealed out the involvement of Dilip in luring jobless youths to pose as militants in such staged surrender ceremony.
