Imphal, August 29: In support of the sit-in-protest demonstration being launched by the officers and other employees of the Directorate of Higher Education since yesterday against the unbearable monetary demand from various UG outfits, representatives of All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) today joined in the demonstration.

Expressing strong resentment against such undue pressures to the Education Department, joint secretary of AMCTA Ch Rita Devi in a statement said such pressures give an adverse impact on the quality of education in the State.

The all round development of a country or a State can be brought about only by education, she said, while noting that even at war time, the academic institutions were kept undisturbed.
