Imphal, December 27: A country wide programme under the banner "Understanding Planet Earth" will be launched on January 3 as a part of the International Year of Planet Earth 2008-09.On the same day, a cycle rally will be taken out in Manipur as a part of the country wide programme under the joint aegis of Science Teachers' Forum Manipur and MAASI, the Rashtriya Vigyan Prodyogiki Sanchar Parishad and the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.

The cycle rally carrying the message of "Safeguarding Our Mother Earth" will be flagged off from Bishnupur, Imphal and Ukhrul simultaneously at 9.30 am.
