A Lamhoih (Friendship) stadium built under the joint effort of civil administration, local villagers and 3rd Bn Rajputana Rifles at Thanlon village was dedicated to the villagers by GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan during the inauguration ceremony held yesterday, informed a PIB (DW) statement.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony which was attended by a large number of people including village chiefs, Maj Gen EJ Kochekkan lauded the joint effort to construct the stadium in a short span of six weeks.
Almost all the development projects undertaken in the area have been joint civil-military efforts which is worth emulating by others, said Kochekkan.
The GOC also announced an aid of Rs 10,000 to conduct sports tournament in the village besides assuring sports equipment worth another Rs 10,000. He further distributed blankets and gifts to victims of IEDs allegedly laid by UG elements.
The GOC announced a monetary grant to the victims and scholarships to two child victims, added the statement.
