Imphal, March 19: With a view to tackle the menace of opium, a joint team of 10 AR and a team from the Narcotics and Affairs Board led by ASI Gopendro destroyed a poppy cultivation at Toupi-ching in Chandel district, informed an AR PRO release.

Ganja seized: About 250 kgs of contraband ganja was seized during random search of vehicles by troops of 22 AR from a Maruti van (NL 07-1268) driven by one Jalaluddin of Duantarapur Silchar and accompanied by one Soba F of Senapati near Tungam Afu on March 16, informed an AR PRO release.

The seized ganja along with driver and vehicle were handed over to Tadubi PS.

In another incident, 144 kgs of ganja was recovered from Ishikha Khunou on March 16, which was handed over to NCB Imphal.
