Ex-State BJP chief dies in Silchar

Imphal, March 09, 2010: Former State unit BJP president Raghumani Sharma died of a massive cerebral stroke at Silchar yesterday morning.

He was 78. According to information received by the press, Sharma was in Silchar to attend the Chintan Baithak and the public rally addressed by RSS chief Mahanrao Bhagawat.

Sharma was about to start for Imphal from Silchar Kalyan Ashram in the morning yesterday when he took ill and was rush to the Civil Hospital.

But the doctors declared him brought dead.

His body was taken to the Silchar RSS and later to the BJP office where BJP's Assam Unit general secretary Ajit Bhattacharjee, Northeast co-ordinator P Chandra Sekhar Rao and district president Kirit Bhushon Purkhayastha paid homage to the departed soul before being taken to Imphal by an ambulance.
