Imphal, April 30: The Senapati District Contractors' Association has questioned the sincerity of the PHED officials in paying their outstanding bills only in cash by deducting 26 pc.

In a statement, the contractors said that for the period 2005-06, the PHED managed to arrange a meagre fund as payment for contractors, but instead of issuing the money through cheques as is the usual practice, the meagre amount was released only in cash and that too after deducting 26 pc from the contractors.

The contractors demanded to know why the 26 pc was deducted and questioned the sincerity of the officials of the PHED.

The contractors also appealed to the heads concerned to look into the matter immediately.
