Imphal, March 25: Timely actions by troops of 37 Assam Rifles have averted a major fire disaster at Chandel Christain village, said a PIB (DW) press release.

While clearing trees and plants for jhum cultivation, a fire broke out today at the village at around 1 pm and spread to the lower reaches of the village.

Luckily troopsof 37 AR posted just 2 km away from the village discovered the fire and rushed to the spot along with the villagers, it informed.
