Crops fail in Ukhrul village

About 90 percent of the shifting cultivation in Khamlang village in Ukhrul district have been failed this year due to shortage of monsoon rainfall, according to a statement issued by the secretary of Khamlang Village Authority N Mayoshang.
Informing that the village consists of 97 households and has a total population of 492 people, Mayoshang said that the villagers have been depending on shifting cultivation since time immemorial and the failure of the crop has hit the common people the hardest.
